Tammy Maus
Executive Director and President
When asked to describe herself, Tammy will tell you she is a passionate and driven early childhood administrator and disability advocate. She has worked with children in some capacity her entire adult life and loves every minute of it! Quite simply, she loves people and wants to make a difference in people’s lives. A tenacious supporter of working parents, school choice, and private high-quality early childhood programs, she is delighted to have the opportunity to expand Kinderberry Academy’s Early Learning and Primary School. Tammy is an involved owner and works at the center daily on administrative tasks and overseeing the center’s Education and Human Relations programs.
Tammy has 41 years of experience in the early childhood field. She began her career teaching Preschool part-time in high school while she was in the Vocational Child Care program. Thirty-seven of those years have been in the administration of early childhood programs as a director of both a local and a hospital-based on-site center, district manager, and an area operations manager for a regional early education company. She was awarded the Friend of Children Award in 2010 by the Central Oklahoma Friends of Early Education/Norman United Way-Success by 6 Initiative and also the Team Leader Award by her district peers while working at a corporate provider of child care. Tammy also serves as an adjunct instructor of Child Development for Gordon Cooper Technology Center’s Child Development Program – adult education section.
A lifelong learner who is passionate about early childhood education, she has earned an Associate’s Degree in Early Childhood Education, a Bachelors Degree in Education/Family and Child Studies with a minor in Business from the University of Central Oklahoma, Master in Human Relations, and a Graduate Certificate in Online Teaching. Tammy is a graduate of the College of William and Mary School of Law – Inaugural Special Education Advocacy Institute of 2011 and a graduate of Leadership Norman Class of 2013.
Her credentials include the National Administrators Credential, Child Development Associate Credential(CDA), Certificate of Mastery – Child Development, and the Oklahoma Director’s Credential-Platinum Level (the highest level obtainable). Tammy is an educator teaching childcare providers about child development practices through the University of Oklahoma’s Center for Early Childhood Professional Development, and also at Child Care Strategies LLC, where she is the CEO. She serves as a Professional Development Specialist (PDS) for the CDA Council, where she works with candidates as they earn their CDA Credentials.
Tammy is a Board Member of the Licensed Child Care Association of Oklahoma (LCA). She is a past President of the Central Oklahoma Friends of Early Education and has served on the Success by 6 Norman Leadership and Early Childhood Task Forces. She is a member of the Association of Early Learning Leaders and the National Federation of Independent Business. Having knowledge of nationally and locally owned programs, Tammy is very familiar with all aspects of early education program operations. Legislative, public policy and regulatory and small business issues are very important to Tammy, and she stays involved on both the state and national levels. Tammy and her husband, Paul Maus are both advocates for children with disabilities and their families.
Tammy’s favorite children’s book is…The Very Hungry Caterpillar, well, and also – Blueberries for Sal. (She has a copy of both in her office and would love to show them to you if you ask.)
Together, Tammy and her husband Paul are the proud parents of five grown children – four sons and a daughter. They have four grandchildren that they absolutely adore. In her small moments of free time, In her spare time, she loves spending time with her family, sewing, and quilting.

Kristen Cox
Program Director
Krissie has been working in the early childhood field for fourteen years. She was awarded the Child Development Associate (CDA) Credential and is pursuing an Associate’s Degree in Early Childhood Education. She holds an Oklahoma Bronze Director’s Credential. She has earned numerous ECE training certificates, with a focus on infant – toddler issues, preschool, classroom management, and center operations. She has taught all age groups from infants to school-age. Although she absolutely loves being in a classroom, she truly enjoys being in a Director’s role, and forming wonderful relationships with families who cross her path. She has been working for us since 2008.
Krissie’s favorite children’s book is…I’ll Love You Forever, because that is what mama’s do!
Though Krissie spends many hours working with children and staff members, her heart is at home with her family. She and her husband are the parents of Jerimiah and Noah. Krissie is a talented cook and loves to try new recipes.

Johlon Maus
Assistant Director
Johlon has been working in the early childhood field for three years. She was awarded the Child Development Associate (CDA) Credential and is pursuing an Associate’s Degree in Early Childhood Education.
Johlon’s favorite children’s book is…All By Myself because she is very independent, loves trying things and doing them to prove to herself that she can.
Johlon loves her family and being with her husband, Jacob, daughter, Jexi and is super excited about their newest arrival expected in the Fall of 2023!
